CMT NewsNEW SKILLS FOR LIFE CENTRE IN LISKEARDFollowing our successful move into Devon with learning centres in Princetown and Plympton, we were asked by the UFI (University For Industry) to open a Learndirect learning centre in Liskeard, to give local learners access to the Learndirect catalogue of courses. Our centre, at Trewolland is fully DDA compliant and houses a suite of training PCs, through which we provide the tutor-managed online training. The new centre specialises in the Skill For Life numeracy and literacy courses and the relevant City & Guilds exams at levels 1 and 2, which we also provide. The skills for life courses are provided free of charge to any adults with a skills for life need. In addition we can provide ITQ and New CLAIT courses through the Learndirect online training. These are provided free of charge to adults on benefits or tax credits. Alongside these courses we run Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and First Aid classroom based courses. We also have a package of courses in which learners can attend a week of Skills For Life training and then train to drive a fork lift truck (for which the practical training is carried out at our Plympton office). Walkers from the CMT Team(from Left to Right- Janet Wills, Mike Wills, Vicky Gould, Heidi Copp, Hannah Course, John Evans, Rachel Roost, Samantha Lewis, Frances Woollard) Registered Charity No. 207994 On Sunday 1st April 2007 11 members of staff from training company CMT Services in Rooksbridge will be venturing down to Cornwall to take part in the second 'Great Daffodil Walk' along with their friends and families. This sponsored walk is to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and is one of the 'Devoted to Life' walks which are taking place throughout the UK from February to October during 2007. There will be a 5km or 10km trail for walkers to choose from on the day around the beautiful woods and grounds of Cotehele (a National Trust Property in St. Dominick near Saltash). Marie Curie Cancer Care is dedicated to the care of people affected by cancer and the enhancement of their quality of life through its caring services, cancer research and education. This year the charity will care for more than 25,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in their 10 hospices throughout the UK. Over the next three years they aim to increase the number of patients cared for at home by the Marie Curie Nursing Service to a minimum of 18,000 per year and increase home nursing hours by 20%. Also, they hope to increase the number of patients using the hospice services, resulting in a rise in occupancy levels by at least 5%. The charity needs as much support as they can from volunteers to raise vital funds to achieve these aims. For further details about Marie Curie Cancer Care events in your area please contact Lynne Juleff on (01872) 260500 or visit the Marie Curie website by clicking on the logo below. We would like to wish everyone the best of luck for the forthcoming event. Happy Walking!! |
