Course Aim
To provide delegates with Basic First Aid training in compliance with the Appointed Person requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course the successful candidates will be able to:
- Define the phrase “first aid”
- Recognize the importance of Safety and Hygiene for the First Aider and any casualty
- Be able to Respond to Incidents and Emergencies
- Demonstrate an ability to perform rescue breathing
- Demonstrate the knowledge of how to treat an unconscious casualty
- Know how to treat blood loss, the cause, effect and treatment
- Have an awareness of the likely minor injuries and the treatment of these in their own workplace
- Know their duties to Employers and Employees
- Have the knowledge to keep records and report accidents

Delegates having successfully demonstrated life saving skills will receive the Appointed Person First Aid Certificate in accordance with HSE requirements, valid for 3 years.
