Safety Validation Certification

Locations: Rooksbridge.

Course Aim

To provide Managers, Supervisory staff, Safety Management personnel and others with responsibility for assessing risk with a workshop training environment in which they can use supplied information to address specific risk assessments with respect to hazardous substances (COSHH), noise and fire.

Course Contents

It is recommended that trainees will have attended the CIEH Risk Assessment Course, IOSH Managing Safely Course, or similar.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the trainee should be able to:

Hazardous Substances

  • Know how to identify substances or types of substance employees are likely to be exposed to during the work process
  • Know how to find out which might be hazardous to health
  • Know how to find out the type of harm that might be caused
  • Know how to examine the work according to where, how and by whom the substance might be encountered
  • Understand the potential of the substance to cause harm
  • The possibility of exposure
  • The possibility of the exposure causing harm
  • Calculate exposure
  • Know how to put in control strategies
  • Mechanical control measures that could be used
  • How to implement a personal protective Equipment programme
  • How to record the findings and necessary actions of the assessment
  • How to monitor the effectiveness of the control strategies

Noise

  • Be able carry out a noise assessment
  • Know what is meant by noise action levels
  • Understand how to approach calculation of noise exposure
  • Examine ways of carrying out controls of noise sources
  • Select appropriate ear defender

Fire

  • Understand the theory of combustion
  • Identify hazards in the workplace
  • Understand methods of prevention and spread of fire
  • Know how to provide suitable procedures for implementation/monitoring and carrying out emergency evacuation plans

Certification & Assessment

Assessment Via exercises, which are practical in nature. The practical elements are a major component of the course, and where possible, examples and practical exercises are planned and organised based on delegate’s site hazards and methods. Certification Safety Validation Certification
