Course Aim

To equip candidates with the skills and understanding to operate Industrial Loading Shovel in a safe and efficient manner.

Course Contents

By the end of the course the successful candidate will be able to:

  • Operate a Loading Shovel across a range of activities to a recognised standard.
  • Identify Hazards-Understand the principles of Risk Assessments and know the relevance of statutory regulations, ACOPS and guidance documents.
  • Carry out Routine Maintenance and Inspections
  • Understand the lay out and use of controls
  • Carry out simple manoeuvres, forward and reverse movements, turn, emergency stops, positioning and collections with and without ancillary equipment.
  • Identify and know the use and limitations of the truck and any ancillary equipment
  • Know Safety Practices and Safety Checks
  • Be able to complete Records, Logs and Safety Check Sheets

  • 7 Hour Site Safety Awareness (On All Novice Courses)
  • Practical Test
  • 20 Operator Knowledge Questions

  • Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS)
  • 7 Hour Site Safety Awareness (On All Novice Courses)
  • Practical Test
  • 30 Operator Knowledge Questions
  • CSCS Prometric Health & Safety must have been completed within last two years This meets the Construction Plant training requirements for CPCS Red Card CPCS Training centre No. 4533 (note) CPCS Registration: Other conditions may apply, dependant on Candidates Experience / training - Telephone 01934 751370 for further information This course Meets the training requirements and provides evidence of competence towards NVQ/SVQ, Intermediate Certificate in Specialised Plant Machinery.
