Course Aim
The aim of this course is to equip candidates with the skills and understanding to operate Lorry Loaders in a safe and efficient manner.
Lorry loaders are used in industry to lift materials onto the back of lorry beds. This course will look at basic construction and components together with their uses, limitations and principles of operation and will provide an understanding of operator duties and responsibilities, information on routine maintenance checks and effective practical operation.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course the successful candidate will be able to:
- Operate the Lorry Loader across a range of activities to a recognised standard.
- Identify Hazards-Understand the principles of Risk Assessments and know the relevance of statutory regulations, ACOPS and guidance documents.
- Understand the lay out and use of controls
- Carry out inspections and servicing of Crane and Lifting Tackle
- Know types of Configuration, Terminology and Design Features of Crane.
- Know types of Slings and Lifting Tackle
- Know Slinging Methods and Signal Code
- Identify and know the use and limitations of ancillary equipment
- Know Safety Practices and Safety Checks
- Be able to complete Records, Logs and Safety Check Sheets

Course Duration
The duration of the training course is varied, and dependent on the profiled experience / associated training of the candidate.
In general, courses run between one and ten days for experienced operators through to complete novices. Each applicant will be profiled to determine the correct length of training required to reach competence.
