Maintain & Operate The Chainsaw
Locations: Dartmoor.
Course Aim
The regular operator maintenance required for petrol driven chainsaws in workshop and field conditions, including starting procedures and pre-work checks.
Course Objectives
It is strongly recommended that Candidates hold at least a recent, recognised Emergency First Aid Training Certificate.
After completing the course the successful candidate will be able to:
- Observe safety precautions and wear appropriate PPE.
- Demonstrate knowledge of what is involved in a risk assessment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Emergency Procedures planning.
- Demonstrate knowledge of advantages of maintenance under workshop conditions.
- Identify and explain the function of the safety features of the chainsaw
- Identify component parts of the chain and state their function
- Demonstrate knowledge of information required to select a replacement chain for a given saw.
- Demonstrate knowledge of reasons for chain maintenance.
- Demonstrate knowledge of effects of incorrect chain tension
- Maintain guide bar.
- Demonstrate all aspects of cleaning and servicing.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of cutting performance.
