Fell & Process Small Trees
Locations: Dartmoor.
Course Aim
(Pre requisite CS30)To meet the assessment criteria by displaying a level of underpinning knowledge and practical performance to comply with safe working practices.
Course Objectives
It is strongly recommended that the Candidates hold at least a recent, recognised Emergency First Aid Training Certificate.
After completing the course the successful Candidate will be able to:
- Identify the Risk Assessment Procedures on a work site
- Select and prepare equipment required for safe and effective felling
- Fell small trees safely and accurately using an appropriate method
- Fell trees weighted in direction of fall using a safe technique
- Remove branches safely in a manner appropriate to the branching habit
- Crosscut stems accurately and safely to a given length and diameter specification
- Stack timber using appropriate manual handling techniques
- Take down small hung up trees safely using appropriate hand tools

Assessment
The Candidates are assessed on 4 compulsory parts, felling small trees, removing branches, crosscutting felled trees, and taking down hung-up trees using hand tools.
